Last February actor Jason Davis died at the age of 35. Davis is best known for voicing Mikey in the Disney animated series, “Recess,” from 1997 to 2001. He also had roles in TV series such as “7th Heaven” and “Roseanne.” The cause of death was ruled as accidental Fentanyl overdose.
“Jason had a true heart of gold with such a zest for life,” his mother Nancy said in a statement at the time. “He was such a caring soul to everybody who ever knew him. He loved his friends and his family above all else”.
Davis was open with his struggle with addiction, which included co-founding the nonprofit Cure Addiction Now. He participated in Dr. Drew Pinsky’s TV reality series “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” on VH1 in 2010.
He is one of several people on the reality TV series to have died. In addition to Davis, Dr. Drew participants Chyna, Rodney King, Mindy McCready, Joey Kovar, Jeff Conaway, and Mike Starr died, though not all of their deaths were addiction or mental health-related.
Davis reportedly disappeared a month before his death. He was feared to have relapsed even though those close to him said he had been “doing very well” in the recovery process. He fell out of contact with friends and they feared the worse. They said before this he had been in “active recovery”.
However, the news of Davis’ death confirmed the fears of those close to him. Davis was found dead in his bathroom in Los Angeles on a Sunday morning last February.
