Gervonta Davis, the American boxer and holder of multiple championship titles, has been arrested in Parkland, Florida. Davis was hit with a domestic violence battery charge and is currently jailed. Davis witnessed major drug abuse as a young boy, both in foster homes and with his own parents. Some say his back story is a recipe for disaster. With both of his parents characterized as crack addicts, some are afraid he will never meet his full potential.

The lightweight boxer was arrested on the account of hitting a woman with a closed fist. The woman, who doesn’t live with Davis and whose name was redacted, suffered a small abrasion to the inside of her upper lip on the right side of her mouth. Police say the woman was able to escape the home and call 911. Over the course of the call, the woman was heard saying, “Please help me; I need help, please. I’m trying to go home, I have a baby in the car, and attacked me … He’s going to kill me.” The woman then hung up the phone shortly after, before calling once again, crying, “I need to go. I’m in danger right now.” Police arrived at the scene shortly after, as Davis, 28, is arrested.

He previously faced misdemeanor charges in Coral Gables, Florida, in February 2020, in which he had been accused of battering an ex-girlfriend. That case was discharged on Dec. 13 of last year, according to court records.

The undefeated champion is to appear in court for a hit-and-run crash in his hometown. The crash involved four bystanders, one of which was pregnant. He is facing 14 charges, including failure to immediately return and remain at the scene of an accident involving bodily injury. He is facing a lawsuit as well.

According to jail records, Davis is currently still booked.

Even the influence of the great Floyd Mayweather  – which should be a dream set-up – is being called into question with Davis’s latest antics.
