Former Zoey 101 Star Alexa Nikolas Speaks Out on Trauma at Nickelodeon including Being Pressured to Drink on Set

A former star in Nikelodeon’s Zoey 101 Alexa Nikolas has spoken out against Nickelodeon and their father company, Paramount, on a reboot movie, Zoey 102, for the show. Nikolas, along with other former child stars on the program, is protesting.

Nikolas, playing the role of Nicole Bristow on the former kids’ show, has recently come out with a number of allegations regarding her treatment as a child actress. Dan Schneider, the creator of the show as well as other hits such as iCarly and Victorious, had been involved with Nikolas creepily. On The Real Pod podcast, she openly stated how Schneider would sit in the room as she changed her wardrobe.”Thank God there was a curtain, but he was literally on a chair right outside of the curtain. I had to wear very short skirts.”

Jennette McCurdy, a former Nickelodeon alum, recently published a book, I’m Glad My Mom Died, in which she describes similar allegations on what can be assumed to be Schneider, labeled as ‘The Creator’ in her memoir.

“What the f–k? Nickelodeon is offering me three hundred thousand dollars in hush money to not talk publicly about my experience on the show?” she wrote in her memoir. “My personal experience of ‘The Creator’s abuse?’ This is a network with shows made for children. Shouldn’t they have some sort of moral compass? Shouldn’t they at least try to report to some sort of ethical standard?”

Other allegations include executives sending Nikolas questionable text messages, and being pressured to drink at age of 18. She was even offered money to stay quiet on the matter. Schneider has spoken out against previous allegations. In July 2021, he stated to the New York Times, “I never interacted with actors in any way, texting or otherwise, that should make anyone uncomfortable.”

Zoey 102 is expected to air on Paramount+, featuring a number of former actors from Zoey 101. Nikolas’ castmates have yet to speak on the allegations.
