In February of this year, John Mulhaney completed 60 days of rehab and moved into a sober living facility for another month and 1/2. He soon returned to stand-up comedy.
In May he split with his wife of six years – Anna Marie Tendler. “I wish him (John) support and success as he continues his recovery” – she said through her spokesperson. John’s said in a statement, “John will not have any comment as he continues to focus on his recovery and getting back to work”.
Also in May, he began a new relationship with Olivia Munn (41). “In the Spring, I went to Los Angeles and met a wonderful woman named Olivia, Olivia Munn”, Mulhaney stated.
John said on Late Night With Seth Meyers on September 7th, “She got to date me right out of recovery, which is what they call a reverse catch”. He added, “It’s a very, very lucky thing to have met this woman. It’s been a challenging time. I got into this relationship that’s been really beautiful with someone incredible who has like, dealt with the non-coked up Bambi version of me, and she’s kind of held my hand through that”.
Also in September, Olivia’s pregnancy was confirmed. “We’re having a baby together. I’m going to be a dad. We’re both really really happy”, John confirmed on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
In November 2020, John said, “I relapse on drugs, and then “I continue using drugs”. He recalled how Seth Meyers and some other friends staged an intervention.
While in rehab for cocaine addiction, Many celebrities, including Olivia, shared supportive comments to the comedian on social media. The actress tweeted, “Sending SO MUCH love and support to John Mulhaney. You got this”. She added a heart and lightning bolt emoji.
Mulaney has recently said of his current relationship, “Olivia and this baby have helped save me from myself in this early journey out of recovery”.
