Kirstie Alley died at the age of 71 from a short battle with Cancer. Alley’s children, True and Lillie Parker, announced the actress had died from cancer on Monday, December 4th, 2022. In a statement, True and Lillie confirmed that Alley in fact passed away.
“We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce, and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered,” they said in a statement.
“She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead,” they continued. “As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.
It’s been said that drugs inspired Alley to move out of Kansas as a young woman. She refused to let them control her and actually got clean shortly after arriving in California in 1979. In a tweet in 2019, she said, “for those of you who don’t know much about me, I used to be a cokehead”. She wrote,” I quit drugs in 1979 and vowed to spend the same money weekly on flowers that I had spent on drugs. I buy and arrange my own flowers as a gift to MYSELF.”
About the time Alley’s career was taking off, her mother was tragically killed by a drunk driver in 1981. She said the drama surrounding her death haunted her for years. One regret she mentioned often was that her mom did not get a chance to see her success.
Alley was in the process of building her dream home in her community of Clearwater Florida.
