In a new interview, 30-year-old Miley Cyrus reveals that she carried guilt and shame into her early adulthood because of how people reacted to her changing persona. She began shedding her Disney Channel image in her 20s.
Some of the singer’s notable and controversial moments that arose after she tried to move past her Hannah Montana days included her 2009 Teen Choice Awards performance of “Party in the USA”, and her 2010 song “I Can’t be Tamed”. Also, her 2013 “Wrecking Ball” music video and twerking at the MTV Music Video Awards that same year.
Fast-forward to today when the controversial and endless party girl persona is behind her. Cyrus recently threw a party with several celebrity pals and had a blast in Beverly Hills to celebrate the upcoming release of her new album, Endless Summer Vacation. The spectacular evening was attended by stars such as Paris Hilton, Shawn Mendes, Sabrina Carpenter, and Cyrus’ boyfriend Maxx Morando.
Although all sang and danced all night long, including enjoying several drinks, none had any problems with alcohol (or drugs). At the end of the night, Shawn Mendes and Sabrina Carpenter were seen leaving with wine in hand.
It is safe to say that Miley has finally “found herself”. She says being a woman is both a “blessing and a curse”, due to the “expectations” put on females. Cyrus says she hates the word “selfish”. “If you love yourself, then what? You come first”. Also, she adds, “so that’s my spiel”.
