Rihanna’s new romance with rapper A$AP seems to be a good one. On December 2nd, the couple, both 32, walked hand-in-hand around the City of New York.
They’ve been friends for years sparking rumors in the past about a possible relationship. But it wasn’t until the Grammy winners split from her boyfriend of three years, that their lifestyles aligned and she and A$AP began dating.
“They have a lot in common”, says a source. They actually bonded in 2012 over music. They collaborated on Rhianna’s track “Cockiness (Love It) and they’ve toured together since then. A$AP (born Rakim Mayers) also co-starred in her Fenty Skin campaign this summer.
Rihanna has had her share of problems. In 2012, it was reported that Jay-Z – as head of her record label – insisted she enroll in a drug addiction treatment and clean up her act.
She’s definitely been known as a party girl but in 2015 she strongly denied doing drugs after a video of her rubbing her nose emerged at the Coachella Festival.
Some of her songs have been said to be about drugs. In Yellow Diamonds the slang is subtle – but the pills and the dilated pupils of the video imagery spell it out.
A$AP is “known for being a great guy”. The source close to the star also says, “Rihanna seems very happy”. They both help the communities they grew up in and hopefully, they will continue to do so – her with the Clara Lionel Foundation and him with the homeless shelter in Harlem.
